About Krog Bar

Krog Bar – Coal Fired Pizza celebrates the distinct style of coal-fired pizza rarely found in Georgia. With temperatures reaching up to 2,200 degrees, the custom-built oven delivers a crisp, charred crust and a flavor that nods to classic New York and New Haven pies. The menu features eight signature pizzas, including the Cheese Don, Pomodoro, Margherita, KROG (Kevin Rathbun Original Gangsta), Clam, and the Isabella (named after Rathbun’s granddaughter), alongside salads like shaved zucchini ribbons, coal-roasted artichoke hearts, and hearty panino sandwiches served on house-made pizza bianca bread. A full bar offers a concise list of craft cocktails, Italian wines, and spirits.

Krog Bar is so lowkey and so underrated 😭😭 I hope more people find this hidden gem!!! I went in an afternoon with my boyfriend. We sit at the corner table next to the window. Everything was cozy, warm, and feels like home vibe. But don’t get me wrong, because they are cozy in a way that’s so perfect for a first date night, friends hang out, or just to satisfy your craving of a crispy chewy pizza! Will definitely come back!!

I don’t think I’ve ever sent something back to the kitchen only to turn around and give the restaurant a positive review. I’m about to. On our first visit we ordered the much-acclaimed Krog pizza with sausage, fennel and onion. We all know how much restaurant chefs love salt. In this case, the sausage was inedible. It was salt-lick salty and we couldn’t get past it. Maybe some people can. Obviously some people do. In fact, two couples beside us wolfed theirs down. The very kind waitress offered to take it back to the kitchen and have another pizza prepared for us. Of course we protested, because we’re pretty nice people, but finally agreed to take a margherita pizza home. Now we’re talking. And saying good things. Wonderfully charred crust, fresh basil, a balanced sauce and fresh mozzarella. A Chianti from our cellar, and all was forgiven. We want this small jewel to be around a while. There are only a few tables inside, but there’s bar seating and tables outside. I don’t use the word β€˜cute’ but it’s cute. If you do order the Krog pizza (and why not?) maybe try it with the hot honey. The sweetness may balance out the salt. I’m not readily buying that, but perhaps we were there on

There’s plenty of parking in the plaza for self-parking. The restaurant is walk-in only, with no reservations. We arrived close to 9 PM on a Saturday night, and it wasn’t too crowded, so we were able to get seats at the bar. We had: - Coal Roasted Artichoke Hearts - Divola pizza - Half surf clam and half Quattro Formaggi pizza All the dishes tasted really good, especially the Coal Roasted Artichoke Hearts. The service was fast and friendly, and the bartender was great at making my drink. The pizza size is just right, and the crust isn’t overly charred or bitter like at some other places. Overall, we had a lovely experience. I’ll definitely come back when I’m in the mood for good pizza or want to grab takeout.

A phenomenal dining experience! Every dish we got delivered on flavor, freshness, and balance. I really appreciate a place that focuses on executing the classics well and they do just that. The pizza was the best in the area! I really enjoyed the smokiness of the piquillo peppers, the crispiness of the artichoke, and the pickled cauliflower in the sandwich (what a nice touch!). The homemade gelato was outstanding and is a must! The ambience was homey, the service was kind and efficient (we sat at the bar), and the food came out fast! This is a small space and first-come-first-serve, so we did have to wait about 15 minutes for a table. It was so worth it! The host made sure we were comfortable and got a round of drinks started for us while we waited. My only note is that I wish there were more non-alcoholic beverage options, specifically warm teas. The food is hearty and a hot caffeine-free tea would be delightful at cutting through the fattiness of the melted cheese and meat.

If I could give this a a 4.5, I would. However, I do not want to detract from the actual food itself based on the service. We sat at the bar, and to say the service was abysmal would be an understatement. It could have an issue with the person serving us as the owner came around and was lovely. They do not take reservations, but we were able to be seated quickly after a 15 minute wait. What people say is true--it does take time for the food to come out. With that said, the pizza is the best we've had in Atlanta. Some reviews mention the pizza being bland, which we did not find was the case at all. We really loved the gorgonzola on the quatro formaggi and would have loved more! The tomato sauce for the margherita was balanced. The dough was cooked perfectly with char, chewiness, softness, and crispness. We will definitely be coming back. We also enjoyed the burrata and artichokes.
